Our story

From the DJ booth to the print shop.

My Dope Tee started as a side hustle for a guy who kept getting asked where he got his shirts. It's now a Toronto print shop that makes custom gear for NBA champions, big brands, schools and a lot of people ordering their very first tee.

It started with the music

Before the printers, there was the booth. Matthew Romeo spent years in Toronto's music and entertainment scene as a DJ and promoter [CHECK: exact wording you'd use for your music years]. Every show needed merch, every crew needed shirts, and nobody local could turn them around fast without a fuss. So he started making them himself.

The name was a joke at first. People kept asking, "Yo, where'd you get that tee?" The answer became the business.

Full-time since 2019

In 2019 [CHECK] My Dope Tee stopped being a side project. One printer became a print room. The shop moved as it grew [CHECK: anything you want to say about the moves]. What didn't change: every order is still printed by people who care how it looks on you, in Toronto, and you see your design on the product before you pay.

Who we print for

Corporate teams at TD, Meta, TikTok and Alterna Bank. Custom gear for NBA champion Fred VanVleet and NBA star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander's No Flukes Foundation. Spirit wear for schools, merch for artists and bands, fundraiser shirts for causes that needed a hand. And a lot of first-timers who just wanted one really good shirt.

Most of our work is printed in-house with direct-to-film printing, which is why low minimums are possible and why colours stay sharp on dark garments. Screen printing and embroidery are handled with partners we've worked with for years, so bigger runs and stitched logos come out right too.
